Instructions for How to Post Elementary News Articles

CyrilSchools.org News Article Creation Instructions

Short Version for Experienced Users:

  1. On www.cyrilschools.org, scroll to the bottom and click the “Sign in” link.

  2. Go to “Elementary News”

  3. Click the “New Post” button.

  4. Write your post and click the “Save” button when you’re finished.


Long Version:

  1. Power button (top right corner)

  2. Add User (bottom left)

  3. Sign in with your cyrilschools.org accout

    1. username is your first initial and last name + cyrilschools.org

      1. example: Becky Thompson is bthompson@cyrilschools.org

    2. Password: probably your usual password. You likely set back it in the Spring.

      1. If your password doesn’t work, Dan can reset it.

  4. Open the Chrome browser

  5. Go to www.cyrilschools.org

  6. Scroll to the very bottom and click “Sign in”

  7. Mouse over “Elementary” and then click on “Elementary News”.

  8. Click the “New post” button. It’s located under the “Elementary News” title.

    1. If the “New post” button doesn’t appear, try signing in again with the link at the very bottom of the page.

  9. Writing the post:

    1. Title your post by renaming the “Untitled Post”.

    2. Click in the body of the post to type your article.

      1. Writing this post works like a generic word processor.

      2. You can get fancier with features in the menu at the top of the page.

    3. Inserting pictures:

      1. The easiest way is usually to copy the picture you want and paste it in the body of the article. The “Insert>Image” menu gives you more options.

      2. Control the size of your picture with the control bar that appears under the image when you click on it.

      3. You have 5 sizing options, alignment, and wrapping settings.

  10. Saving and Publishing:

    1. The blue “Save” button at the top right saves and publishes your article.

    2. The “Save Draft” button saves but does not publish it. That way you can finish your article later without publishing it yet.

  11. Editing your post after you’ve saved it:

    1. After you’ve opened your article in the browser, click the edit button in the top right. It’s the one with the pencil on it.

      1. If the pencil button does not appear, try signing in again with the link at the very bottom of the page.
