Cyril Elementary: Return to Learn Plan

Welcome: Cyril Elementary: Return to Learn

Cyril Elementary has been planning for the 2020-2021 school year. We feel we have developed a plan for learning that provides your child with a safe and healthy environment. One that supports quality instruction to help your child be successful. We are excited for a new school year here at CES.

We strongly believe that direct instruction is the best instruction; however, we understand that some parents may not be comfortable with their child returning to a traditional setting at this time. Therefore, Cyril Elementary will be offering both traditional instruction with students attending classes as previous years, as well as virtual learning. Below is a simplified list of procedures.

 

Traditional Setting:

** Face masks are highly recommended in areas where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain such as hallways during passing periods, buses, lunch lines, etc.

** Temperatures will be checked BEFORE the student enters the building. If your child has a temperature, parent(s) will be notified and the child will be sent home immediately.

** Students will enter the building through the front door and the north side door next to Mrs. Roper’s room.

** Upon entering the building in the morning, the child will go directly to their homeroom and place their material in their desk, sanitize their hands, and sit at their desk until directed by the teacher to get in line for breakfast.

** Breakfast will be done in small groups by class.  Students will pick breakfast up and go to their classrooms to eat.

** Rooms will sanitized during all breaks and before and after school.

** Lunches will be served in small groups in order to minimize the number of students in the cafeteria.

 ** Recesses will be limited to small groups.

             **24 hour sanitizer will be used on all door knobs, desks, etc. at the end of each day.

 

Virtual Learning:

             ** The district has purchased chrome books and iPads for every student in the district. Contracts must be signed at check out.

** For those without internet access and who meet   requirements, Cyril Public Schools will provide connectivity for academic purposes.

** Curriculum has been purchased that will be taught in the classroom setting as well as virtual learning.

**Google classroom will be the learning management system Pre-k—12th.

** Attendance will be based on whether assignments were completed and turned in on time as assigned by the educator.

** Lunches will be provided to students who are virtual learning. Student or parent will be responsible to pick the lunch up at an assigned time.

 

Cafeteria:

** The salad bar will be closed until numbers decline and we feel it is safe for all students to serve themselves.

** Students will use wall mounted hand sanitizerslocated at the beginning of the serving line.

** Students will practice social distancing as much as space allows.

** Serving lines will be modified to minimize contamination of food being served.

 

Morning Assembly:

** Morning assembly will be done in virtual in the classrooms to avoid mass gatherings. Parents will be notified when it is safe to return to regular morning assemblies.

 Transportation:

             ** It is highly recommended that students be brought to school by parents.

             ** If a student must ride the bus, it is highly recommended that students wear a mask while on the bus.

** Each bus will be sanitized daily.

** Students will sanitize their hands with liquid sanitizer when entering the bus.

** Windows will be lowered to increase ventilation on the buses when weather allows.

 

Classrooms:

** Sanitized daily using 24 hour disinfecting spray on door handles, desks, supplies, etc.

** Each classroom will have hand sanitizer for the students and staff to sanitize their hands throughout the day.

** Students and staff will limit the sharing of supplies, utensils, etc.

 

Recess:

**Recesses will be done in small groups.

 

School Visitors:

** All parents/visitors must ring the door bell and remain outside the entrance doors.

** Parents wishing to pick up or drop off a child will remain outside the building at all times.

** Visitors needing to visit with administration or staff must honor social distancing guidelines.

 The Pirate Ship will set sail on August 11th at 7:40am. Students will not be allowed inside the building until this time for safety reasons.

We are all in this together; working as one; trying to provide every student with a positive learning environment that increases student achievement and prepares each for a successful future. We appreciate your willingness to work with us and your patience as changes may have to be made periodically to meet mandated guidelines set by the state department of education.

Elementary Enrollment

Please stop by and pick up your Elementary  enrollment packet anytime next week, Monday thru Thursday from 9am to 7pm. Or August  3rd or 4th from 9am to 4pm.  They are due back on August 5th.
